SERMI has now been live for over a month, and we wanted to share the latest developments, key knowledge and updates on which manufacturers are currently using the scheme.
As more brands introduce SERMI into their systems and portals, certification is becoming increasingly important for accessing security-related functions and avoiding delays on specific jobs.
Registration Update:
We’ve recently had confirmation of an important change to the registration process:
- VAT registration is no longer required
- A valid UTR number is still required
- Your business must remain actively trading
Manufacturers currently using SERMI
We have been closely monitoring how SERMI is being applied across manufacturers, and we've outlined the brands below that have implemented the scheme.
Currently, SERMI is required for security functions on:
- Ford
- JLR
- Stellantis ( all brands)
- Volvo / Polestar
- Nissan
- Suzuki
It is also required for RMI access in IO portals:
- Toyota / Lexus
- Kia / Hyundai
- Isuzu
Key insights from month one
- Some manufacturers apply SERMI only within their diagnostic tools
- Others require it through online manufacturer portals
- Many are beginning to implement both
However, many non-security operations remain fully accessible without SERMI.
